How it works

How Does GlassPass Work?

FAQs below! GlassPass is a secure online marketplace for glass art. Every transaction made using the Offer button on GlassPass is protected via escrow. When a purchase is made, the payment is sent to GlassPass, where the money is held safely. Once GlassPass has received payment, the seller will send the item directly to the buyer and upload the tracking number into the app. When the item arrives, the buyer must take a complete unboxing video (which is only needed if there’s a dispute), and mark the item as arrived in the chat. Once the item arrives safely, GlassPass sends the money to the seller, minus our fee. If there are any problems with the transaction, the buyer or seller can open a dispute in the resolution center available in the chat, where GlassPass will investigate the situation and evidence involved. Buyer Process:

  1. Create a GlassPass account and confirm your email address
  2. Place an offer on a piece you would like to buy
  3. If the seller accepts your offer, you Pay GlassPass the amount shown within 24 hours. GlassPass holds your money until you receive the item.
  4. The seller will ship within 3 days
  5. Once the item arrives, record the entire unboxing process before you open it and verify it has arrived safely by tapping the “Mark as Arrived” button in the offer chat in-app.

Seller Process:

  1. Create a GlassPass account and confirm your email address
  2. Create a post with a price
  3. When a buyer makes an offer, if you accept it, the buyer has 24 hours to pay GlassPass
  4. Ensure the item is 100% clean, and very securely and safely packaged according to our shipping guidelines.
  5. Ship out the item to the buyer within 3 days of them paying GlassPass
  6. Once the package arrives, the buyer will verify it has arrived safely and as listed. Once the buyer confirms it has arrived (or after 48 hours of no response), you will receive your payment. This prevents fraudulent sellers and encourages secure packaging. GlassPass currently charges a 4% fee to sellers: 3% for payment processing and 1% to keep GlassPass running. Feel free to donate :)

FAQs

General Questions:

How does GlassPass work?

  • GlassPass is a secure online marketplace for glass art with escrow based transactions. When a buyer makes a purchase using the Offer button and pays with a credit/debit card or Apple Pay, the transaction is protected by GlassPass via escrow. GlassPass does not and cannot protect any payments made directly to a seller. All transactions on GlassPass start with an offer: a seller lists an item at the price they want, but it is ultimately up to the buyer and seller to decide on a final price for the transaction to be completed. When a buyer makes an offer and the seller accepts, the money is sent directly to GlassPass. The payment is not released to the seller until the item has arrived safely or if the buyer does not reply for 48 hours after arrival. When the money is sent to the seller, the GlassPass fee of 4% is taken from the final payment sent to the seller.

What is escrow?

  • Escrow is the use of a third party (GlassPass), which holds funds before they are transferred from the buyer to the seller. GlassPass holds the funds until both buyer and seller have fulfilled their requirements of the transaction (i.e. the item arriving safely and the buyer verifying by tapping the Mark as Arrived button).

How do offers work?

  • When a buyer makes an offer, the seller has the ability to accept or reject the offer. If the offer is accepted, the buyer has 24 hours to pay GlassPass for the item before the offer expires and the transaction is cancelled. If the offer is cancelled, the transaction is cancelled and no payment is made. The buyer can make another offer if desired.

For Buyers:

How and when am I protected when buying on GlassPass?

  • You are protected on GlassPass only when you:
    1. Use the Offer button in the chat window,
    2. Film a complete unboxing video before the box is opened, and with no tampering or other suspicious activity done to the box before it is opened,
    3. Pay GlassPass with a credit card, debit card, or Apple Pay in the app. We cannot protect any payments made to GlassPass via Venmo, PayPal, Cashapp, Zelle, or any other third-party payment platforms.
  • You are protected via escrow. Your money is held safely by GlassPass until you verify the item has arrived safely, or after 48 hours of no response from you after the item arrives. If the item arrives damaged, broken, or not as described, you are eligible for a refund if the requirements are met - more detailed information can be found in our Refund Policy.

Who am I sending my money to?

  • GlassPass LLC. We hold your money until the item arrives safely as stated above.

How can I pay?

  • You can pay in-app with any credit card, debit card, or Apple Pay to be protected.

Do I pay a fee?

  • As a buyer, you only pay Sales Tax if it is required in your state. Sales tax is calculated based on your shipping address. GlassPass does not keep this money.

For Sellers:

How am I protected when selling on GlassPass?

  • If a buyer claims an item has arrived not as described, GlassPass takes detailed steps to gather evidence from the buyer to prove the item was damaged in transit, or before shipment. All buyers must supply a complete untampered unboxing video to be eligible for any refund. If a refund is issued, the buyer must send the item back to you. We strongly encourage you as a seller to purchase insurance from the shipping carrier for every package sent. If an item is lost in transit by the shipping provider, GlassPass cannot protect you in this situation. However, we can and will work with you to get the insurance claim handled with the shipping carrier.

When do I get paid?

  • You are paid out when the item arrives to the buyer safely and they confirm with us that it has arrived as described, or after 48 hours of no response from the buyer, whichever comes first.

How do I get paid?

  • You can be paid out via Venmo, Paypal, Cashapp, or Zelle by entering your information in-app once you accept an offer. If needed, Apple Pay or wire transfer is also available by request to riley@glasspass.co.

Do I pay a fee?

  • As a seller, you only pay a 4% fee to GlassPass: 3% of this fee goes to payment processing fees, and 1% goes to GlassPass to keep the app running.
